Granny (Ajji)

Fri 23 March, 8.30pm
Phoenix Cinema, Leicester MAP

Film followed by Q&A with lead actress Sushama Deshpande

An old woman, fondly known as Ajji (meaning granny), finds her 9-year-old grand-daughter dumped in a rubbish heap having been assaulted near her slum. What follows is a bloody quest for revenge and an exploration into the horrors of toxic  masculinity, and the lack of justice for the poor, who are left at the mercy of corrupt police and and others in power.

Ajji shows us the cold, brutal realities of the world we live in and presents us with the most unlikely of saviours to challenge the status quo and seek justice.
