The Rajput Princess is a rich, grandiose and vibrant Indian tale of love, deception and warfare inpired by the 16th century ruler of Mewar, India.
It is a time of upheaval as the armies of the legendary Mughal emperor Akbar are overthrowing the ancient Indian Rajput kingdoms. The old traditions are being challenged and changed. At this pivotal time in India's history, Princess Padmini, the daughter of Maharana Pratap II, marries Lakhan, a man below her status. Upon hearing about the secret tryst, the Maharana banishes Lakhan to Delhi.
In Delhi, Lakhan befriends Bairam Khan a narcissistic rouge who wagers him that he can seduce his beloved Padmini. Though unsuccessful, Bairam Khan convinces the insecure Lakhan of Padmini's betrayal. This sets off a spiral of incidents in which the jealous Lakhan seeks revenge on innocent Padmini whilst Akbar's advancing army threatens war.
