Amar is an award-winning singer/songwriter born in the UK, who enjoys an international reputation as one of the most innovative singers coming from the British Asian Music scene.

The daughter of legendary Bollywood playback singer Mangal Singh, whose song Rail Gaddi is a global anthem, Amar catapulted to fame at fourteen, with her hit single, a Hindi cover of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You.

Amar, who collaborated with Talvin Singh on the ground-breaking song Jaan, on Talvin Singh Presents Anokha Soundz of the Asian Underground, was in her teens when she was signed by Warner Music UK, and became the first British Indian girl to be signed by a major record label in the UK.

Thereafter, she released her first critically acclaimed album Outside, produced by Diamond Life (Sade) hitmaker Robin Millar and Nitin Sawhney.

Her collaborations include a hit duet with Cheb Khaled El Harba Wine, Garage anthem with Dreem Team ‘Sometimes it Snows in April, Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells 3, Shankar Mahadevan and Sonu Nigam, and her most notable collaboration was with US production royalty Timbaland, as a featured artiste on his multi-platinum album Shock Value, with the song Bombay.
