Shafa Khan was born in a small city called Mirpur, Pakistan. He started his dance training much later on when his family immigrated to United Kingdom. After enrolling for a foundation degree in dance he was exposed to mélange of styles including Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Street Dance and Physical Theatre at his local college in Burton upon Trent. His interest in South Asian styles germinated and shortly after initiated his Kathak training in late 2012 under the guidance of Sonia Sabri. Shafa currently runs a successful fusion based dance group SBS (Shafa’s Bollywood Squad ) and teaches regular classes based in Birmingham. Performance credits include number of local, national and international performances as well as outdoor festivals.
